Maison Martin Margiela SS08 Euro Bill Laminated Wallet

Maison Martin Margiela built its Spring Summer 2008 accessories around printed money, wrapping bifold wallets in facsimile banknotes and closing them with a plain elastic band, so that the finished piece reads as a folded stack of cash held together by a hair tie. This one is laminated in euro notes, printed with the house's own marks in place of the security details of the original, over a beige leather interior with card slots, two note compartments and a snap coin pocket. The bill wallets of that season, issued in euro and in fifty pound versions, have become among the most sought after accessories in the Margiela archive.
