Walter Van Beirendonck was born in 1957 and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1980 as one of the Antwerp Six. His own label started in 1983, and from 1993 to 1999 he designed the line Wild and Lethal Trash, known as W&LT, produced by Mustang, which brought his bright colours, cartoon and club references and technical fabrics to a wide audience. He has headed the fashion department of the Antwerp academy for many years.

The AKAIBU archive holds Walter Van Beirendonck and Wild and Lethal Trash from the 1990s, including Spring Summer 1996 and Fall Winter 1997, with Puk Puk cycling tops, sheer shirts, hedgehog pieces, track jackets, geometric knit dresses, painted denim and a 3D leaf bag.

W&LT pieces carry the Wild and Lethal Trash label with the season, and the main line carries the Walter Van Beirendonck label. We state the line and the season in each listing when it can be confirmed.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Walter Van Beirendonck pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
