Raf Simons

Raf Simons was born in 1968 in Neerpelt, Belgium, trained as an industrial designer and founded his menswear label in 1995. His collections of the late 1990s and 2000s combined youth culture, music and art references with sharp tailoring and became the reference for a whole generation of designers. Collections such as Riot Riot Riot from Fall Winter 2001 and Closer from Fall Winter 2003, with the Peter Saville artworks for Joy Division and New Order, are among the most collected menswear of the period. Raf Simons was also creative director of Jil Sander, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein and has been co creative director of Prada since 2020. His own label closed after the Spring Summer 2023 collection.

The AKAIBU archive holds Raf Simons from Spring Summer 1998 to Spring Summer 2013, with groups from Fall Winter 1998, Fall Winter 2001, Fall Winter 2003, Spring Summer 2004, Spring Summer 2005, Fall Winter 2005 and Spring Summer 2012. It includes Riot Riot Riot and Closer pieces with patches, shirts, knitwear, parkas and jackets, trousers, tote bags, footwear and necklaces, and pieces from the collaboration with Sterling Ruby.

Raf Simons pieces carry the season on the inner label, and the early collections carry labels with the Antwerp address. We state the collection name in each listing when it can be confirmed.
