Maison Martin Margiela SS15 Metal Chain Halter Dress

For Spring Summer 2015, the last season designed by the house team before John Galliano took over, Maison Martin Margiela stripped the halter dress down to its mechanics. A deep red silk body is gathered onto a hinged metal bar across the bust, and the dress hangs from fine silver snake chains that run up to the neck and fasten with a lobster clasp, so the hardware carries the whole garment instead of being hidden as a detail. The skirt falls in long asymmetric panels with a draped, uneven hem and leaves the back open above the bar. Line 1 label, made in Italy.
