Visvim SS22 Happi Hickory Printed Striped Shirt

The happi, a straight cut jacket worn for centuries by Japanese festival crews and tradespeople, gave Visvim the pattern for this shirt from Spring/Summer 2022. Its printed hickory stripe points somewhere else entirely, toward the striped twill of early American railroad workwear. Hiroki Nakamura has made that exchange between Japanese garment history and old Americana the core of the label since founding it in Tokyo in 2000, and the SS22 lineup carried the happi shape in several fabrics.
