Azzedine Alaïa was born in Tunis and opened his Paris house in 1979 after working for Dior, Guy Laroche and Thierry Mugler. He became known in the 1980s as the king of cling for his body conscious knit dresses, leather pieces and precise cutting, and he showed on his own calendar rather than following the fashion weeks. Alaïa died in 2017, and the house is led by Pieter Mulier since 2021.

The AKAIBU archive holds Azzedine Alaïa womenswear from the 1990s, including knit dresses and sets, wrap and kimono tops, crop tops and mesh pieces, textured and braided knitwear, leather, bolero jackets, skirts, trousers and heels.

Alaïa garments carry the Azzedine Alaïa Paris label and are made in France or Italy. We check labels, knit construction and hardware on every piece before listing.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Azzedine Alaïa pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
