Kapital was founded in Kojima, Okayama, in 1984 by Toshikiyo Hirata as a denim manufacturer and became a fashion label under his son Kiro Hirata. The collections mix American workwear, Japanese textile traditions such as boro, sashiko and indigo dyeing, and a playful use of smileys, bones and patchwork. The Kountry sub line covers the most heavily distressed and reworked pieces.

The AKAIBU archive holds Kapital pieces including Kountry oversized distressed and deconstructed knitwear, flannel shirts, Thunderbird embroidered denim jackets, military patchwork pieces, paint splatter pants and smiley shorts.

Kapital garments carry the woven label with the style code and the made in Japan mark. We check these details on every piece before listing.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Kapital pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
