Issey Miyake was born in Hiroshima in 1938 and founded the Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo in 1970. His research into pleating led to the Pleats Please line in 1993 and later to Homme Plissé for men, both made from garment pleated polyester that keeps its shape. Other lines include the main Issey Miyake collection, Issey Miyake Men, the folding 132 5 project and the A-POC concept. Issey Miyake died in 2022 and the studio continues the lines.

The AKAIBU archive holds Issey Miyake pieces from the 1990s to the 2010s, including Pleats Please, Homme Plissé, Issey Miyake Men and 132 5 pieces. It includes pleated trousers, shorts and tops, printed pieces, jackets and blazers, cargo and parka pieces and foldable garments.

Issey Miyake garments carry the line label and a style code on the inner label, which allows them to be identified. We state the line and the season in each listing when it can be confirmed.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Issey Miyake pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
