Lee Alexander McQueen was born in London in 1969, trained on Savile Row and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 1992 with the collection Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims. His own label showed in London from 1993 and became known for sharp tailoring, the bumster trousers, Victorian and historical references and theatrical shows. He was creative director of Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and showed his own label in Paris from 2001. After his death in 2010 Sarah Burton led the house until 2023, followed by Seán McGirr.

The AKAIBU archive concentrates on the 1990s, with pieces from Spring Summer 1996, Fall Winter 1998 and the Joan collection of Fall Winter 1998, and a smaller number from the 2000s. It includes embroidered and sheer tops, lace and knitwear, tailored jackets and coats, skirts, trousers, dresses and biker pieces.

Early McQueen pieces carry the London labels of the period, and later pieces carry the season code on the inner label. We state the season in each listing when it can be confirmed.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Alexander McQueen pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
