Maison Martin Margiela SS04 Reconstructed Dress

Maison Martin Margiela returned again and again to the idea of a garment caught mid construction, from the tailor's dummy jackets and visible basting of Spring Summer 1997 onwards. This dress from Spring Summer 2004 carries that thinking into a soft white viscose body pieced together from separate panels, with loose hand tacks in contrasting thread left across the front, fabric covered buttons at the waist and raw, fraying edges at the neckline, sleeves and hem. It is cut in 100% viscose and was produced in Italy by Staff International.
