Opening Ceremony was founded in New York in 2002 by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon as a store and label that presented designers from a different country each year. The in house collection with varsity jackets, prints and collaborations became part of the New York scene of the 2000s and 2010s. The stores closed in 2020 and the label continues under New Guards Group.

The AKAIBU archive holds Opening Ceremony pieces including a black leather varsity jacket.

Opening Ceremony garments carry the woven label with the composition and country of production. We check these details on every piece before listing.

Every piece in this collection is examined and authenticated in house in Vienna before it is listed. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and our showroom in Vienna can be visited by appointment. If you own Opening Ceremony pieces you would like to sell, see Consign with AKAIBU. If you are looking for a specific piece that is not listed, our Sourcing service can search for it.
