Maison Martin Margiela FW98 Flat Collection Dress

A sleeveless dress by Maison Martin Margiela from Autumn Winter 1998, the Flat collection, in which garments were cut as two dimensional shapes that lie completely flat when laid out and take their form only once worn. This dress is a long column in grey marl jersey, 90 percent cotton and 10 percent elastane, made in Italy, falling to the ankle with no shaping seams. The round neck opening sits on the flat silhouette like a cut out hole and the armholes are set as plain slots on either side, and the blank white label is held at the back neck with four stitches.
