Christian Dior

The house of Christian Dior was founded in Paris in 1946 and presented its first collection in February 1947. After the founder's death in 1957 the house was led by Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and Gianfranco Ferré. John Galliano was creative director from 1996 to 2011 and shaped the Dior that collectors look for today: theatrical runway shows, the saddle bag, logo and monogram pieces, denim and sportswear references and a strong footwear and accessories programme. Raf Simons followed from 2012 to 2015 and Maria Grazia Chiuri from 2016.

AKAIBU concentrates on the John Galliano era. The archive covers seasons from Fall Winter 2001 to Spring Summer 2005, with the largest groups from Spring Summer 2003, Spring Summer 2004 and Spring Summer 2005. It includes heeled shoes and boots, sunglasses, bustiers, denim, monogram and Diorissimo canvas pieces, floral and leopard prints, dresses and outerwear. A smaller number of pieces come from the late 1980s and from the current house.

Galliano era pieces carry the Christian Dior Paris label with the season and size on the inner labels, and the shoes are made in Italy.
