The Haut a Courroies was the first bag Hermès made, introduced in 1892 for riders who needed to carry a saddle and boots, and the name describes the construction: high straps running over a tall, structured body. It predates the Birkin by more than eighty years and gave that bag its architecture. This one is built in the traditional pairing of toile canvas and natural leather, with the leather taking the handles, the corner reinforcements and the strap system, in the 45 centimetre size that was made for travel rather than daily carry.
