Ann Demeulemeester Michael Jackson Newspaper Print Polo Shirt

Ann Demeulemeester built her Antwerp label on black, white and a stripped back romanticism, which makes a printed pop culture motif one of the rarer turns in her output. This polo is cut from a fine white cotton jersey printed edge to edge with a collage of press clippings about Michael Jackson: portrait photographs, full length shots in the stage costume of the Thriller years and columns set in newspaper type, repeated across the body and the short sleeves. A solid black ribbed collar and matching sleeve trims cut against the print, and the placket closes with two white buttons. It is made in Belgium, where the house produced its ready to wear through the years Demeulemeester ran it, from the label's founding in 1985 and its first Paris show in 1992 until she left in 2013.
