Gianni Versace 1990s Multicolor Skirt

Gianni Versace built the early 1990s on print, running abstract brushwork, baroque scrollwork and blown up florals across silk shirts, jersey dresses and tailoring in the same season. This mini skirt takes one of those painterly prints onto a finely ribbed wool and silk ottoman that holds its shape on the body: purple, red and yellow brushstrokes laid over black, with roses at the front and a black and white graphic border running along the hem and the waistband. It fastens with a concealed zip at the back and carries the black and white checkerboard label the house used through the decade.
