For Autumn Winter 2005, Maison Martin Margiela explored concealment and the wish to disappear from view, extending the back panels of coats and blousons into hoods that pull up and over the head. Collectors came to know the silhouette as the hunchback, and it remains one of the most recognisable constructions the house ever produced. This wool coat carries that raised back and transformable hood, made for a season that also brought inverted wig bags and voodoo doll accessories.
