Chanel AW09 by Karl Lagerfeld Black Cashmere Coat

Chanel produced this black cashmere coat for Autumn Winter 2009, a collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, who held the house's creative direction from 1983 until his death in 2019. Black has been central to Chanel since Gabrielle Chanel introduced her little black dress in 1926, and cashmere places the coat among the house's most worked materials. For the runway presentation that season, Lagerfeld decorated the set with giant bottles of Chanel No. 5.
