Jean Paul Gaultier 90s Patchwork Distressed Knit

Jean Paul Gaultier built this 1990s knit from contrasting patchwork panels, its surface finished with deliberate distressing. Knitwear was a constant testing ground at Gaultier during that decade, and mixed fabrics, spliced sections and irregular textures recur throughout his collections of the period. It is a vintage piece from the years when the designer was running both his own Paris house and, from 1997, its couture line.
