Helmut Lang AW1999 Flak Down Filled Laced Vest

Helmut Lang patterned this vest on the US Army's M69 flak vest for his Autumn Winter 1999 collection, replacing ballistic padding with a down fill that gives the body a firm, rounded volume. The season built its outerwear around references to military equipment, motorcycle protection and space suits, and the flak pieces sat at the centre of that lineup. Lang produced the design in both jacket and vest form. Lacing runs along the sides to adjust the fit.
