Helmut Lang FW99 Gray Corduroy Painter Denim

Helmut Lang's painter jeans, introduced in the late 1990s, appeared for Autumn/Winter 1999 in corduroy as well as denim, and this pair is one of the gray corduroy versions. The paint marks are not accidental: Lang screen printed the splatter in thick white and gray ink, fixing a decorator's traces as a repeatable print. The cut follows his five-pocket construction of the period, which referenced postwar Levi's patterns and carried riveted pockets and logo-engraved metal hardware.
