Alexander McQueen 90s Double Waistband Striped Pants

Alexander McQueen trained in tailoring at Anderson and Sheppard on Savile Row, and his 1990s collections turned that knowledge against convention, most insistently at the waist. These striped pants from the decade carry a doubled waistband, one band stacked over the other. The waistline was the central experiment of McQueen's early work: his bumster trousers, introduced with the Taxi Driver collection for Autumn Winter 1993, cut the rise radically low and pulled the focus of tailoring down to the hips.
