Alexander McQueen 90s Black Balloon Skirt

A black balloon skirt from Alexander McQueen dating to the 1990s. That decade covers the designer's first independent collections in London, begun in 1992 after his Central Saint Martins MA show and built on cutting skills learned on Savile Row. The balloon silhouette gathers its volume back in at the hem, an exaggerated line of the kind McQueen worked with across his early vintage output. From 1996 he ran his own label in parallel with the creative directorship of Givenchy in Paris.
