Maison Martin Margiela FW94 Ribbed Knit Dress

Maison Martin Margiela built the Autumn Winter 1994 collection around the idea of reproduction, presenting replicas of garments from the house's own earlier seasons alongside a group of pieces enlarged from a doll's wardrobe to human scale. This ribbed knit dress belongs to that season, in which knitwear carried the concept most literally: some pieces were worked in exaggerated gauge so that the proportions of the doll's clothing survived the enlargement.
