Gucci SS03 by Tom Ford Embroidered Layered Silk Cherry Blossom Mini Wrap Skirt Pareo

Tom Ford built his Spring Summer 2003 collection for Gucci around Japanese motifs, cherry blossoms and cranes embroidered onto layered silk in ombre blue, a run that produced the kimono mini dresses, the stretch silk sakura dress and the embroidered frame bags that are now the most collected pieces of his final years at the house. This wrap skirt comes from the same embroidered silk: dip dyed from deep blue at the waist down to pale water at the hem, layered in fine horizontal pintucks and worked with raised silk floss blossoms, branches and a white crane in flight. Braided self ties fasten it at the hip, so it sits as a mini skirt or wraps as a pareo, and the interior carries the black Gucci label marked seta 100% silk, made in Italy.
