Dirk Bikkembergs graduated from Antwerp's Royal Academy in 1982 as one of the Antwerp Six and made boots the anchor of his collections from the start. This 2001 pair combines paneled leather with a zip closure and the exposed metal heel that became one of his recognizable constructions. That same year he staged his show inside Milan's San Siro stadium, bringing his football fixation directly onto the runway.
