Gucci by Tom Ford 1997 Black Silk Dress

A black silk dress from Gucci's 1997 collections under Tom Ford, the stretch of the nineties in which Ford rebuilt the Florentine house around a dark, overtly sensual idea of dressing. Black silk was central to that vocabulary, cut fluid and close to the body across the seasons on either side of this piece. The house's advertising that year was fronted by Carolyn Murphy and Angela Lindvall.
