Christian Dior 1950s Sequin Set

This sequin set comes from Christian Dior's founding decade, when the house, established in 1947, set the shape of postwar Paris fashion. Evening pieces of the early 1950s relied on dense surface work, with sequins and paillettes arranged in patterns across the fabric. The founder directed the house until his death in 1957, and comparable sequined evening wear from these years is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
